God has given us two resources to help us in our Christian lives. One is the Holy Spirit; the other is the Bible which is our primary source of information about God and His purpose for our lives. The Bible is our only authority on all matters of doctrine and behavior. We believe all the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.
We also believe in the autonomy of the local church, that is, our church is self-governing. No denominational control from the outside our local church can tell us what to do. The New Testament churches were autonomous. We believe every local church should be self-governing from any kind of outside control.
Members of Enka Baptist believe that by immersion is the only way we baptize because this is the way Christ was baptized (Matthew 3:16). Also, when believers are immersed in the water, they are proclaiming their belief in the life, death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, lived a perfect life and was resurrected, went to heaven and one day will return to set up His eternal kingdom.
We also believe that salvation is God’s gift to us, but we must accept this free gift. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness of our sins can one be saved from the penalty of sin.
We believe eternal life begins when one receives Christ into his or her life by faith. If you have been saved, you can’t lose your salvation. Salvation is kept by the grace and power of God, not by self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and the power of God that gives us security.
